Area Reports
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
Bass bite has been a slow and steady pick at both the inlet and around Ponquogue bridge. The bite has been on the slower points of the tide and live bait is a must, spots if you can get them and eels as well. The bite in the ocean has been good when you can get out. The local wrecks and reefs are holding a good amount of blackfish with green crabs doing most of the damage. Some reports of large sea bass and cod have come back from the deeper wrecks. The anglers who have made the run north of Plum and Fishers Islands have done very well with the blackfish.
Peconic Bay
Had a report of some blues and bass around the Indian Island Park earlier in the week but not much else.
Shorebound/Surf
The areas ocean beaches continue to be a real tough pick. Reports of a few fish just east of the inlet earlier in the week and very scattered reports of bass to the west of the inlet. The fish that are being caught are nothing to write home about but they are bending the rod which is more than most can say. Reports from those on the Ponquogue bridge have been better than most. Fish have been taking eels and rubber baits on the night tides. The jetties of Shinnecock continue to produce a few fish as well on bucktails.

Shinnecock Area Report 9/11/11
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The canal continues to hold snapper and porgies. The bay still has a decent fluke bite but the great news is that the bass are beginning to show in better numbers. Most fish are in the inlet and around Ponquogue bridge and are mainly taking the live and fresh baits but a few have fallen to the artificials. The ocean bite for both the fluke and sea bass is way off, but that would be expected due to the huge swells of late.
Peconic Bay
The Porgies are still holding strong out in the Peconics and don't be surprised if you come across a few weakfish.
Shorebound/Surf
The fall weather is slowly making itself know and the fish are moving in slowly as well along the beaches. The best bet for a bass on the south facing beaches is with fresh clams. Artificials are having a tough time convincing the fish to bite. There are some blues around as well but not in great number as of yet. The most promising areas I've heard this week are Cupsogue and Shagwong. Ponquogue bridge is holding bass as well with fish falling for sandworm and clam baits with fluke in the mix too. The snapper are still holding strong at most local docks and creeks. A few porgies have been found by those targeting bass and fluke from the jetties at the inlet.

Shinnecock, Peconic & Offshore Report 9/4/11
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The fluking in the Shinnecock bay has rebounded pretty quickly for those targeting the areas around the inlet. Both tides and both east and west channels have produced. All baits seem to be working. The ocean fluke bite is still way off from where it was a week ago with very few reports of fish. The inlet is also holding some porgies, blues and a few bass along with again fluke. The sea bass have been cooperating out on the Shinnecock reef with plenty of keeper sized fish to go around. The area around the Ponquogue bridge is also holding some fluke and bass. Most bass have been on the night tides. The snappers are plentiful in the canal around the local marinas and keeping the youngsters happy.
Peconic Bay
The Porgies are still holding strong out in the Peconics and don't be surprised if you come across a few weakfish.
Shorebound/Surf
The inlet continues to please the day trippers with fluke, porgies and sea bass at both the east and west jetties. A few reports of bass from the inlet and the ocean beaches along with blues. The cooler water temps pushed in by Irene along with the cooler night temps should start the fall run sooner than later, I hope. Loads of bait is present in the bay and along the beaches, once the fish find it we should be in for a great fall season. The Ponquogue bridge has produced a fair amount of fluke with a few porgies in the mix while the canal has plenty of snappers to go around with some porgies as well.
Offshore
Not much to report due to the after effects of Irene.
News
Don't forget that the fluke season this year runs until the end of Sept. We will continue to have all the required baits on hand including live killies, spots and eels

Shinnecock, Peconic & Offshore Report 7/18/11
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
Fluking in the bay is still providing the best shot at landing a keeper. Rampasture and the basket have seen some of the better action. The ocean bite has provided a fe keepers for the box out in 80' of water and around the reef. Live bait will increase your odds, huge killies or jig up a few live snappers that have now moved throughout the bay. The bassing is slowing as it shoulsd during the heat of the summer but the clam chummers and those working the night tides in the inlet are still being rewarded with a decent bite. Blues up to and bigger than 36" are in the inlet too. Seabass continue to be a target due to the large number of short fluke around. If this interests you head out to the reef and look for the smaller pieces, the larger pieces have been picked over heavily.
Peconic Bay
The Peconics are holding plenty of porgies, Robin's Island, Roger's rock, Gardner's bay, a ll good spots to set up. Clam chum, worms and clam baits all working.
Shorebound/Surf
The inlet continues to produce triggers, sea bass, bass and blues. The night tides are best for the bass, and clam bait will catch you any of the above. The south facing beaches have some blues, bass and even a bonita or two mixed in. Diamond jigs, clam baits and swimming plugs all working. Dawn and dusk have provided the best action. The canal has porgies, fluke and snappers. the snappers need to grow a bit but thet=y are here.
Offshore
Sharking remains good and are well within the run of the smaller boats. Threshers and makos both common. The bluefin bite is decent as well, look for some life and start trolling.

Shinnecock, Peconic and Offshore Report 7/10/11
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The fluke bite in Shinnecock bay has finally started producing some keepers. I now hear the ratio has improved to 15:1. Weighed in a 5 1/2lb fluke caught by the youngster, Jackson Eckart, fishing with his Grandfather Bill Horan on the 4th from the east cut (photo attached) and a 8 1/2lb fluke caught by Bill Brewer this week of Rampasture point on a live Jumbo killie. The bass bite is still good in the inlet on both live and clam baits, but not as good as it was. Blues still ravaging the baits in the inlet and bay. Trigger fish are coming out of the inlet also on clam baits. The reef outside the inlet continues to produce some quality seabass, porgies and a few fluke.
Peconic Bay
The Robins Island area continues to produce porgies, clam and worm baits along with clam chum will keep them under your boat.
Shorebound/Surf
The Shinnecock inlet continues to produce bass, blues, triggers and a few porgies. The bass are coming on both baits and bucktails on the night tides. The canal has seen porgies at the noth end and a few fluke at the southern end. The ocean beaches are starting to show more signs of life this week both east and west of the inlet, with both bass and blues falling to clam baits as well as swimming plugs in the dark. The Ponquogue bridge is holding some nice live baits in the dark. Try chunking these baits for that trophy.
Offshore
The shark fish is better this year than the past few with quite a few makos and threshers making it to the scales. The run is short and the bite is good. The bluefin reports are beginning to show more consistency, with the same are south west of the Coimbra holding some fish as well as the Barcardi. The small yellowfin are falling for trolled lures but not much for the box.
News
We are currently working on setting up tanks to hold spots. We should have them in stock beginning next weekend if all goes according to plan.

Clam chummers at the Ponquogue bridge have had some larger bass this week with fish to 25lbs reported. Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
Clam chummers have had a slow pick around the Ponquogue bridge with some schoolie sized bass. The inlet is seeing signs of life with both bass and blues making an appearance for the drifters with clam and live baits. The ocean fluking is good in 40' of water straight in front of the inlet, many, many shorts but enough keepers in the mix to keep up the interests. Shinnecock bay has plenty of bait around and are attracting some bass blues and fluke up on the flats in the warmer waters. Try some shallow water bucktailing to entice a trophy.
Peconic Bay
The fluke bite at Greenlawns has been consistant for those drifting the typical squid spearing. The areas off of Greenport harbor have been producing also. Big porgies are making an appearance just in time for the opener on the 24th. Cowneck has seen some bass in the dark along with plenty of blues. Its no secret, the bunker are up in Flanders bay, live line a bunker and hold on. Fish to 30lbs have been common. Cocktail blues are invading the creeks and back bays.
Shorebound/Surf
The Shinnecock canal has been hot this week with fluke, blues, bass, blowfish, yes blowfish and even a confirmed weakfish. The cod action continues out of Shinnecock and Montauk. The bite seems to have slowed slightly but turns right back on to lock and load fishing. Fish over the 20lb mark have been reported as I write this report. When weather permits make sure to get out and reap the rewards of some great fishing.
On a separate subject I'm happy to report the birth of my son and new fishing buddy, Scott James, born on Jan 31st and coming in at 5lbs. 13oz on the scale

Cod Report 1-16-11
Cod reports back to the shop have been good. The Shinnecock boats have done well and the Montauk boats have done great. The bite in the dark seems to be a bit lighter than the day bite with plenty of doggies on the bait. Jigs have been the better producer of late. Most fish are at market size and limits are the norm with boats limiting out by 9am. The shop is open all winter Thurs-Mon with all your cod jigs, rigs, rods & reels on hand. Check out our new diamond jigs in pink, blue & chartruese. Nows the time to get your gear tuned up for the spring, all work done in house
