Areas west of Ponquogue beach through Triton Lane are closed due to the continued Sandy cleanup. The beaches west of Triton are accessable from Quogue bridge.Bass are in all of these areas we just need to get out there and put in some time and find them. Our shop is open with all in season baits including live eels and green crabs. Be sure to get out and enjoy the great weather this weekend.

POST SANDY
We survvived the storm and are now open for business 7 days, 8-5:30 Mon-Sat and 8-3 Sun. We still have plenty of fresh and frozen bait available including live eels thanks to our generator. Hearing some promising reports of bunker in the Peconics, bass around the Ponquogue bridge and some good action with the bass in Montauk on Friday the 2nd. All great news that the fish stuck around through the storm and our season is not over yet. The issue right now is getting to the beaches and bridge with no access permitted. I spoke to the officer holding post at the base of the bridge today and he could not give me a answer as to when he thought it would be open to the public.

Shinnecock Report
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
Plenty of bass to go around in the inlet. Most boats drifting live bait have boated a fair share of fish. The bar outside the inlet has been holding a good amount of bait and bass should find them in better numbers any time now as the move westward down the beach. Some hefty blackfish are lurking in both the east and west jetties falling for green crabs if you put in your time. The small seabass continue to bite on most baits but are too small to put in the cooler. The bay continues to hold plenty of bait.
Peconic Bay & Points East
Bunker are all over the Peconics. Blues have been pushing them around further east but up in the Peconic river are some large bass swirling about. Some smaller blackfish have come off of the local rock piles but nothing to really speak of.
Surf/Shore bound/Canal
Bass are showing in much better numbers all along the ocean beaches. Most fish are still being caught on the early morning and evening tides but that should change any day now as the bait empties out of the bays. Poppers have seen plenty of action but the bucktailers have faired good as well. Both the east and west jetties have seen anglers score with bucktails, eels and clam baits. The Ponquogue bridge has had fish up to 25lbs fall for swimmers, bucktails and eel on the night tides. Shinnecock canal has small seabass and blackfish jumping on any bait you put down. Good fun if you just want to catch instead of fish.

9/30/12 Fishing Report
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The best bet is to target the striped bass in the inlet on live bait for the drifters or over at the Ponquogue bridge for the clam chummers. Plenty of fish around both areas. Live eels on the night tides or any other live bait you can get a hold of during the daylight hours will work just fine. Large bluefish are in the inlet as well biting on whatever you’re throwing or drifting for bass. Cocktail size blues are in the bay following the bait. Plenty of small seabass around with very few legal size coming from the bay. However the larger Seabass are beginning to chew out on the reef and local wrecks, just in time for the blackfish season opener this weekend. Plenty of large porgies on the reef and around the sea buoy.
Peconic Bay & Points EastThe porgies and snappers continue to dominate the reports from the Robins Island and Jessups areas. Blowfish have been making another good showing mixing in. Some scattered reports of weakfish from the Roses Grove area.
Surf/Shore bound/Canal
The inlet is holding a good body of teen sized striped bass with some 20’s and 30’s mixing in. Most of the better fish have fallen for bucktails on the night tides. Live eels and clams have had their fair share of fish as well. The ocean beaches locally have seen a decent bite on swimmers, poppers and pencils during the early morning and evening tides. Most fish have been just around keeper size with some schoolies in the mix. Cocktail blues have been following the rain bait in the wash. The Ponquogue bridge is producing bass on the night tides with both bait and bucktails. The north side in the Peconics have had cocktail blues and some small porgies from the local inlets. Shinnecock canal is still holding the snapper/cocktail blues when the locks are open, small porgies and Seabass and a few blowfish. The bunker are starting to show moving through the canal, bass should find them soon.

We are always adding new products and are happy to fill special request orders if possible.

Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The bass bite at the bridge and inlet has been good for the clam chummers. Both tides have produced with fish to 30lbs. Drifting the inlet with live baits or clam has been working too. The fluke bite remains decent in the western bay but the ocean bite has finally started east of the inlet. The bay bite has been in the skinny water with small bucktails doing most of the damage. Seabass have been cooperating on the Shinnecock reef and local wrecks along with some ling mixing in. The cocktail blues are in and around the inlet most mornings and evenings and being caught on ava jigs/tube.
Peconic Bay
The porgy bite remains strong. Anchor up with some clam chum and baits for the best action. Robins island area is a good place to start. Some bluefish on the troll around Jessups.
Surf/Shore bound/Canal
The bass are cooperating at the bridge and inlet for the clam dunkers. Fish to 20lbs have come back to the shop. Bucktails have had some decent results in the inlet on the night tides. Blues to 17lbs have been caught off the west jetty on bucktails and diamond jigs. The canal has fluke on spearing and some cocktail blues at the southern end and porgies at the northern end on worm baits. The ocean beaches are producing a few fish here and there with no real consistency on both baits and lures.
Offshore
The blue sharks dominated the bite this past week for those targeting the thresher and makos. Makos out of the Shinnecock area were few and far between. Sharkers have spotted schoolie size bluefin schools while drifting the inshore waters. Find some life and drag some squid bars around and try your luck, you never know what you may find. Out at the canyons the water is looking good with a nice temp. break.

SHINNECOCK PECONIC REPORTS
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The fluke bite has continued to improve with many anglers taking their limits. Spearing squid combos work well but bucktailing in the skinny water has been taking the larger fish. Most fish have been coming from areas west of the bridge. The ocean fluke bite has yet to materialize although conditions haven't been ideal to venture out and scout either. Bass have been cooperating with the clam chummers at the bridge and inlet, the out going tides have been the better bite. Big blues are on nthe bottom of the inlet with 3-5lbers moving throughout the bay.
Peconic Bay
Best bet is the porgies with clam chum and baits around Robin's Island. The bay is holding a lot of bunker, find them and you'll have fun with plenty of keeper bass. Blues are moving about, drag an umbrella rig and you'll be rewarded.
Surf/Shore bound/Canal
The canal has been producing quite a few fluke with keeper mixing in. Ponquogue bridge has bass in the shadows at night and the inlet continues to see bass fall to bucktails. The back bay areas of both Shinnecock and Peconic are hold quite a few bass and are falling for both bait and swimming plugs.
News
Beginning June 4th we will be opening at 6am weekdays and at 5am on weekends. All week long we're open until 7pm only closing at 3pm on Sundays.

Shinnecock/Peconic Report
Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
Shinnecock bay fluking is finally picking up. Plenty of keepers are in the mix for those both bucktailing and using bottom rigs. Tip either with some local squid and spearing for your baits. The ocean fluke bite has not really started yet but look for some action after the suns been out a few days and water temps improve. The western bay has seen some decent action on the flounder throughout the weekend, unfortunately the season closes the 30th. Hopefully this is the beginning of something good for the flounder stocks future. Bass have been spotty with some fish in the bay areas falling to some topwater action but more on clam baits. The blues are moving about the bay ravaging the bait, look for the birds for some action.
Peconic Bay
Action has been very goodhere with Porgies, Fluke, Blues, Bass, Weakfish and even some Blowfish and Kingfish in the mix. Most who want to bend a rod have been very successful with the huge porgies, clam chum and worm or clam baits will get you a cooler full. The Jessup area has been holding the lion's share but most anywhere will do. The fluke are around Shelter Island and out by Gardner's. Blues are scattered throughout the bay following the large schools of bunker and the bass are below them feasting on the scraps. Blowfish and Kingfish have been an accidental catch while targeting the other species. The weakfish are around but are thinning out.
Surf/Shore bound/Canal
The ocean beaches have been fairly quiet. Most of the action on the bass and blues has come from the back bay areas of both Shinnecock and Peconic bays. The fish have fallen to both bait and lures. Soft plastics and topwaters have fooled the bass while diamond jigs have taken the blues. The inlet has had a pick of fish on bucktails. The canal has had great action with fluke and blowfish being the best bet when the locks are closed. Plenty of keeper fluke have come out of the canal up to 23:"

Shinnecock Area Report 4/1/12
Good reports of bait in our bays have made it back to the shop. Some schoolie bass are showing up in back bays with very promising conditions for an early start to the season. The flounder season is underway with some sporadic reports of fish up by Quogue canal. The warmer air temps predicted this week should fair well for the flounder bite. Mackerel have been spotted outside the inlet but not in the great numbers that are around to the west. Herring continue to move in and out of the bay as well. Have had reports from the commercial guys that the fluke are closer than they usually are this time of year, also pointing towards an early season. We're now open 7days, weekdays 7-6, Sat 6-6 and Sun 6-3 and stocking all the in season baits. Be sure to drop off your gear for repairs and service.

Shinnecock Area Report 3/19/12
Reports are filtering in, cod has been hot and cold off of Block and the south shore. The catch and release of sea bass and blackfish continues. The ling bite has been decent along the south shore. Have heard of bass just west of Moriches under the mackerel and herring schools.
A few reports of bunker have made it back to the shop from the area around Indian island. Osprey have been spotted with bunker in their talons' as well.
The herring are moving in and out of Shinnecock with reports of other bait too. The shop is now open 7 days with our sale of 20% off most everything in the store running until the end of the month. Be sure to drop off your gear for service, it's going to be an early start this year so don't procrastinate, get your gear ready.

Shinnecock & Montauk Reports & News
Shop reports have been fairly quiet. The cod bite off the south shore seems to be getting a bit better and seem the better option over the Montauk boats at the moment, but that could change overnight. The bait reports have been good on the cod grounds just need the water temps to continue to drop a bit more. The doggies need to move off a bit to allow the cod a shot at your baits. Have seen the birds diving in the bay west of the Ponquogue bridge lately, should be some herring under those birds. Shop is open on a limited schedule for the next couple of weeks, heading south for some warm temps. Call ahead if you plan on heading over, Saturdays we'll be open for sure.
