Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The fluke bite in the ocean has turned on. Fish to 23” have been reported. The keeper to shorts ratio is very low, plenty of 20” fish. The fluke bite in the Shinnecock bay continues to produce some nice size keepers to 11lbs. The bucktail bounces are out fishing the bait. Bass are in the inlet, the morning and evening tides have been the times to try your luck with some eels. Blues are still patrolling the area following the large amount of bait.
Peconic Bay
The areas around Robins Island and Rogers rock are hold fluke and porgies.
Beaches/Shore Bound
The Shinnecock canal still holding fluke, bass, blues and porgies. Beaches have been slow with the occasional bass or bluefish report. The inlet has been producing quite a few decent bass, most on bait. All the larger fish have been caught on live bait on the night tides. Blues are in the inlet on bait with the birds showing each morning and evening.
Offshore
Plenty of blue sharks, everyone who has targeted makos has been covered up with them. Up to 30 blue sharks a trip. Makos are in the area although the amount of them caught is low. Did have a thresher caught out of Shinnecock this week too. The bluefin reports say they are in around 200’ of water. Yellowfin reports from the area east of Atlantis have been good with fish to 70lbs.
