Shinnecock Bay/Inlet/Ocean
The fluking in the Shinnecock bay continues to improve. The keeper to short ratio improves daily. On Friday EEBT weighed in an 11.5lb fluke caught in the east cut by Dave Feldman while jigging a bucktail.(photo attached) Sea bass on the local reefs and wreck is keeping anglers happy with fish to 3lbs on squid and clam strips. Bass on live bait has been the answer for fish to 20lbs in the inlet.
Peconic Bay
Frying pan size porgies around Rogers rock on worms and clam. Bluefish are still holding in the area between Robins Island and Jessups.
Beaches/Shore Bound
The Ponquogue bridge and Shinnecock inlet have produced bass to 20lbs on live bait as well as bunker chunks and clams. Large trigger fish are in as well at the inlet. The Shinnecock canal still producing its mix of fish including fluke and porgies with the locks closed and bass and blues when they’re open.
Offshore
Those sharking have seen plenty of action with blue sharks. Bluefin reports continue to come in with the fish showing 25-30 miles off the beach. They’re showing below large groups of shearwaters and bait. Yellowfin have been caught anywhere from the Hudson to the Tails. The numbers were lower this week but the conditions are right with temps around 72 degrees.
